how to relearn old habits

Heya! For the first time in forever, I am becoming more active on my blog, which is a good thing! One of the reasons I suddenly have the strength of a superhero to blog more often than usual is that I remembered some habits I needed to relearn. That has put me in a creative mental space.

I would be lying if I said I learned a bunch of new stuff this week; instead, what made my week special was that I relearned some “good old” habits.

The benefit of relearning old habits is that you can remember who you used to be, and feel alive again. We may find ourselves in a situation that makes us forget how happy or lively we used to be; therefore, relearning good old habits is therapeutic.

Let me share some habits I relearned this week.

  • Being security conscious. Sadly, I learned a hard lesson. I lost some of my things recently, which made me regretful of the choices I made that day.
  • Achieving. I had a presentation in class a few days ago. Tbh, I wasn’t so sure about the content of the presentation because I missed the previous class. When the lecturer asked who wanted to be the next to present (he mentioned that everyone would do it anyway), I got up and did it. When I finished the presentation, I received positive feedback from the lecturer, which made me feel better about my presentation.
  • Living in the moment. Mindfulness has been my mantra for the past four years; however, as humans, we tend to focus on what we can’t control and end up spiralling. This week, I focused more on realistic thoughts and lived in the moment.
  • Having fun. Like living in the moment, I also deserved some fun and happiness! So, I put aside all forms of stressors and focused on my happiness. I watched some movies, caught up with my friends, and rested as much as possible. It was truly worth it.
habits to relearn
  • Using my computer. I had become accustomed to creating blog content on my phone that I forgot how easy it is to type on a laptop. I felt a flow while typing this particular content on my computer, whereas on my phone, the flow isn’t there. That is because it isn’t easy to type over 400 words on a smartphone. The only benefit of using a smartphone to create content is that it is handier than a laptop.
  • Body posture while working. As a content writer, I must be mindful of my sitting posture while blogging; slouching is a no-no!
  • Practising gratitude. Fam, let me be honest; I have been so overwhelmed with a lot of things lately that I haven’t been grateful for the goodness of God in my life. When I thought of how far God has brought me, I felt ashamed for being “naggy Gracie” for a while.

According to Reimagine Psychology, relearning good habits helps to train our brains. Therefore, If you need a push to feel creative, safe, happy, and productive, these are some habits I recommend that you relearn.

Over to you, what habits would you like to relearn?

If you love this blog, kindly share the posts with your friends and loved ones. It will mean a lot to me to know your thoughts in the comments. Love, Grace
