Always remember the red flags before telling your ‘besties’ about your issues.

The worse thing that can happen to someone at their lowest is getting hurt by the people they trust. Sadly, it may not be easy to tell who is trustworthy when you need to talk about your issues; however, time is the best revealer.

This topic is dear to me because I have been there, and probably you have as well. Therefore, to end repetitive issues, trauma, and hurt, it is crucial to know the root cause of your problem.

Years ago, I made the mistake of trusting the wrong person at my lowest point; unfortunately, I discovered the issue I discussed with her in confidence became โ€œthe talk of the townโ€. To say I was hurt is an understatement.

To avoid trusting the wrong people when faced with difficult situations, these are the major red flags you should watch out for in your friendships and relationships.

Red flags in friendships and relationships: How to know you are trusting the wrong people.

  1. They manipulate you by playing with your conscience.

2. They are passive/selective listeners.

3. They trivialize your situation

4. They talk about you without your permission

5. They portray you wrongly to others, especially your new friends, partners or employer.

6. They rarely give positive advice.

7. They always blame you.

8. They use your situation to their advantage

Why is this important? Many people are trying to discover themselves, heal from deep hurt, and avoid clinging to the wrong crowd but realize they donโ€™t reach their goal of becoming self-confident. One of the reasons for that could be the company they keep.

Conclusion.

Examine the kind of people you confide in and see if they try to help you or use you. Ultimately this positive psychology topic is broader than this article, but noticing red flags early enough can prevent you from future issues.
