nighttime skincare routine

A few days ago, I realized that I’ve been dishing out a lot of blogging related content, I’m sorry for unintentionally creating an imbalance; this is a lifestyle blog after all. So I will make it up to you by sharing how my nighttime skincare routine went tonight.

Do you remember the period I was obsessed with different skincare products? After trying most of the products I got, I can confidently say there are some products I won’t waste my money on anymore. Without further ado, these were the skincare products I used tonight.

Disclaimer: I consulted with my doctor before using these products, and they have worked fine for me. Therefore, I’d suggest you ask a dermatologist before trying these products.

Firstly, I’d like to point out that I have a combination skin type; oily T-zone and dry zone on cheeks. Asides from the ‘seldom acne visits’, I have larger looking pores and a shiny T-zone. These combination skin type signs become more noticeable on my face when I’m stressed or give my skincare routine a long break.

Now that I am more aware of my skin type and the issues I need to correct, I use products specifically for the problems I want to fix. Therefore, I begin my skincare routine by washing my face with Neutrogena Oil Balancing Daily Exfoliator. Though it is a daily exfoliator, I don’t use this exfoliator every day. The benefit of this product is that it unclogs my pores and leaves my face looking ‘mattified’ just as it claims. Also, I started my nighttime routine with this product because I wanted to prepare my face for the other products I used.

Secondly, I used the Neutrogena Spot Control Wash/Mask as a mask tonight. I use this mask about four times a week and leave it on for about 20 mins. During the time, I listen to peaceful music, complete a simple task or meditate. This makes me enjoy my nighttime skincare routine even more.

Then I washed it off with the Neutrogena Spot Control Facial Wash. Since I started using this facial wash, I noticed a tremendous change in my face. The spots are not so visible anymore, and I rarely have acne.

The next thing I did was to cleanse my face with the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Cleanser. I use this product every night because it leaves my face feeling more refreshed and preps my face for serum and cream.

After cleansing my face, I used The Ordinary Niacinamide Serum, which quickly absorbs, then rubbed the No. 7 Advanced Retinol 1.5 % Complex Night Concentrate a few minutes later. According to Dermatologists, Niacinamide and Retinol are a good combination for the night. I use the Ordinary Niacinamide Serum at night because combining it with Vitamin C facial products is not good. Most of my daytime skincare products contain vitamin C.

In summary, having a nighttime skincare routine doesn’t just make me go to bed feeling fresh, but it gives me some time to reflect on my day.

I don’t follow a strict skincare routine, and I use various products that work perfectly for me. I can wait to share another skincare routine with you.

Over to you, I’d love to know what your nighttime skincare routine is.

If you love this blog, kindly share the posts with your friends and loved ones. It will mean a lot to me to know your thoughts in the comments. Love, Grace
