Before becoming a mom, someone once told me that motherhood is such a stressful journey that I would abandon my makeup box and not have enough time for my skincare routine. That was one of the scariest things I was told about motherhood; not because I am a makeup guru, but because I love looking good (who doesn’t). According to her, the only thing I will have time for is a lip balm. In her defence, she is an eager beaver. In retrospect, I believe everything is about planning. There are days that I will be so busy and won’t have so much time for my usual makeup routine and days that I will be free enough to apply everything I love.
I recently created a simple makeup routine for busy days because I enjoy sticking to a routine until it becomes boring; also, I don’t want motherhood or anything to make me change for the worse. This makeup hack is a game-changer. I hope this helps you get back to your glam.
Before I reveal my routine, I would like you to check out what’s in my makeup bag and compare it with my minimalist makeup items.
This is my everyday makeup routine.
Step 1. Concealer
Step 2. Powder
Step 3. Eye pencil
Step 4. Mascara
Step 5. Brow pencil
Step 6. Lip Balm
This is the main routine, but sometimes I add other makeup items; it all depends on how much time I have, where I am going, etc.
Disclaimer. I am not a makeup guru and I’m not implying that makeup is the only way to look good, this is perfect for my busy days especially content-creating days. However, there are days I work without any makeup on, it depends on my mood.
For the makeup look in the picture above, I used the following.
- Concealer – Daily Life Forever 52.
- Powder – Daily Life Forever 52.
- Generic eye pencil & brow pencil.
- Mascara – Maybelline, The Falsies Lash Lift.
- Highlighter, Contour & Bronzer – Zaron.
It took about 15 minutes to get it done.
Over to you, what’s your simple makeup routine?
