This is an old post but I feel it needs to grace my new blog :).

When I posted some of the pictures I took in this park, someone commented in shock that she couldn’t believe we have parks and zoos in Nigeria 😂😂 I’m pretty sure she was kidding. This is one of my favourite childhood parks. The last time I visited this park was about 6 years ago with a friend.

Recently, I came with my son and sister for some fresh air. The National Children’s Park and Zoo is one of the oldest parks in Abuja. Years ago, this park was highly maintained, but I was quite disappointed upon getting there recently; the zoo had a few animals, the lake cafe doesn’t exist anymore, and so much more. However, it wasn’t a total waste of time as Gabriel had fun seeing the animals and playing in the kid’s play area. Some serious work should be done to this park and zoo because it has the potential to be of international standard. Some adults come to the park to take walks, jog, ride bikes, play fun games or hang out with loved ones.

If you are visiting for the first time, you should be aware of the ants in most places.

Other things you need to know are:

– The entry fee is 400 naira for adults and free for kids.

– Ensure you come along with insects repellent.

– Timings are 8 am -6 pm daily, although if you are in the park, you can leave beyond 6 pm.

– Come with some snacks.

– Ensure you wear a face mask.

– Located in Asokoro, Abuja, close to Niger Barracks, War college, Aso rocks and behind the Aso Villa.

– The benefit of going during the week is it won’t be crowded.

– Take lots of wipes if you are going with kids.

– Perfect place to take some scenery pictures.
