Al Seef: What you need to know before visiting Al Seef District, Dubai.

Today’s outing was inspired by one of my Instagram follower’s pictures. She recently visited Dubai and shared pictures of this hidden gem with her followers. At first, I thought Al Seef district was one of Dubai’s most recent development, but I was shocked to discover it was built in 2008! Immediately, I added it to one of the places to visit this month.

Al Seef District is one of the most unique tourist destinations in Dubai because it shows the humble beginning of the city and gives its visitors a splendid view of Modern Dubai across the Creek. Being in this unique place made me feel like I travelled back in time; yeah, I have been watching Outlander, so don’t blame me 🙂

I have a lot to write at this very moment, but I’ll go easy on you by sharing the main highlights.

The Journey to Al Seef.

I visited this site with my son and Angel yesterday and we began our journey from Silicon Oasis to Al Seef. We took bus X25 to Burjuman Metro Station, which is quite far, but it was worth it.

On getting there, we walked around one of the discount centres until 5 pm because the weather is better in the evening. I used Google Map to locate Al Seef from Bur Juman Metro Station exit one. It took us about 18 minutes to get to our destination.

We spent an hour in the historic district and hopped on the abra ride from Al Seef to Baniyas. On getting to our destination, we walked to Union Metro Station, about 10 minutes from the port, and took the train to the Centre Point Metro Station to wait for the bus.

Bus 320 arrived a few minutes later, and we enjoyed a 30-minute drive to the house since the bus stop is right in front of where I live. I particularly loved experiencing the old and new Dubai, especially:

  1. Walking along the Dubai Creek and appreciating the stunning view of the “old and new” Dubai.

2. Having my fav Baskin Robin ice cream flavour; Cotton Candy.

3. Making a video, check it out HERE

4. Crossing the creek on an Abra Ride.

Now, to the main part of this guide, this is what you need to know before visiting Al Seef, Dubai Creek.

Al Seef during the day
  1. If you want to go by the Dubai bus, have some form of entertainment with you, it is quite a distance.

2. Plan your journey with the S’hail app (formerly Wohjati).

3. If you’ll be going with your little one, don’t forget their essentials.

4. The beauty of Al Seef district during the day and at night is impeccable. It’s advisable to go before sunset to experience the day and nighttime view.

Al Seef at night

5. Get ready to see the stunning juxtaposition of two phases of Dubai.

6. You can conveniently get to Al Seef district by the following Dubai Public Transportations:

– Taxi

– Metro: From Bur Juman, Al Fahidi or Al Ghubaiba Metro station to Al Seef is about 15 to 20 minutes walking distance.

– Bus: the buses that stop close to the district are C10 & C7.

– Abra: There is a direct route from the Baniyas Square Marine Transport Station to Al Seef Marine Transport Station, which cost 2 dirhams per person. Children below five years can ride free.

7. Location: Al Seef Village, Dubai Creek, UAE. The nearest landmark is the Consulate of the United States of America.

8. Timing: 10 am to 10 pm.

9. The entry fee is free.

10. Other tourist attractions nearby include the Museum of Illusion, Al Fahidi Historical District, Wall of Old Dubai, Arabian Tea House, XVA Gallery, Alserkal Cultural Foundation, Coffee Museum, Majlis Art Gallery and Coin Museum.

In conclusion, the glamour of Dubai has nothing on this historical destination. If you’ve watched the Outlander TV show, you’ll agree that you don’t need to visit Craigh na dun or travel back in time through the stones to land in this historic district. Whenever you’re in the UAE, don’t forget to stop by Al Seef!
