Dubai Bling

Dubai Bling has been an exciting way to reconnect with the vibrant city of Dubai and get a glimpse of what’s been happening since I left in 2022. The series offers a front-row seat to the lives of the city’s elite, showcasing their luxurious lifestyles, personal dramas, and intricate relationships.

Don’t worry, I won’t be spoiling it, so you can go ahead and read the post!

The series revolves around a group of wealthy, influential individuals navigating their friendships, careers, and love lives in the heart of Dubai. From glitzy events to over-the-top materialistic displays, the show thrives on highlighting the extravagant lives of its cast members. To be honest, when I first started watching in 2022/2023, I found it genuinely intriguing. Despite the frequent zoom-ins on their luxury items and the cast’s often materialistic behaviour, I didn’t have any cringe moments—it was fascinating entertainment.

However, by Season 3, the dynamics shifted significantly. According to Safa, one of the cast members, this is supposed to be the final season, though I wouldn’t be surprised if another one pops up in the future. That said, Season 3 felt way over the top. From the trailer alone, I started feeling anxious, and when I finally watched it, I thought, “Oh boy, this is not good.”

One notable aspect of the show is its portrayal of the cast’s dysfunctional friendships. While some relationships were mended, it took a parent presence for them to behave maturely and find common ground. Honestly, I know this is what most reality shows are like, but it still baffles me what drives someone to agree to air such nasty behaviour on television. Thankfully, a few cast members maintained their composure, serving as peacemakers and demonstrating good character amidst the chaos.

The takeaways from Dubai Bling are surprisingly insightful:

  • Protect your wife always.
  • Safeguard your husband’s health.
  • Strike a balance between marriage and ‘bestie’ friendships.
  • Support your husband’s career.
  • Keep the spark alive in your marriage, even after having children.
  • Avoid gossiping about others’ business.
  • Don’t seek revenge or fight in public.
  • Build a strong support system.
  • Don’t act childishly as an adult.
  • As a woman, have a source of income.
  • Support mothers emotionally and psychologically, especially those raising children with special needs.
  • Never be a bully.
  • Always consider other perspectives.
  • Communication is key to a healthy marriage.

While the show had its fair share of over-the-top drama, Dubai Bling wasn’t bad at the end of the day. It had its moments of inspiration and offered valuable lessons alongside the entertainment. And honestly? I’m glad it’s over.
