hair styles

Recently, one of my brothers convinced me to watch the TV Show- Vikings. Although I am still on it, what has kept me glued to the show is the pretty hairstyles of the ladies (and some men), but I’m more fascinated by the ladies’ hair.

“The people of Kattegat” are not the first to wear braids like that (and won’t be the last).

My heart rejoices when the cast of TV shows wear various cornrow hairstyles.

Now, you might be wondering why I am drooling over the styles. If you haven’t watched Vikings, I’d understand. The cornrows styles are pretty different from the regular ones we wear as Africans.

Vikings hair (as I now refer to it) is the combination of braids and your hair or extensions. It is done by getting some sides of your hair (or all sides) are loosely braided in different patterns and styles.

What is unique about it is the patterns of the braids. My favourite characters that rocked their “Vikings braids” beautifully are Lagertha, Torvi, Gunhill and Astrid.

Back to the main story.

I tried some of the beautiful braids a few weeks ago, and I also realised I have done something similar in the past, so I present to you my cornrow hairdo inspired by the TV show- Vikings.

See more details below.

  1. A lady did the four inverted cornrow braids (also known as French braids) in front part of my hair while I made a ponytail at the back.
  2. I used a black extension for the ponytail and rubbed a transparent and spray gel to make my hair “cooperated with the style”. I added a few hair accessories to the braids when I completed the ponytail.
  3. Finally, I finished the style in less than an hour.

But i love the hair, you make it look cool

    1. Haha, it took me a while to understand the series but honestly, I’m more interested in the hairstyles than the storyline.
