I had a pleasant evening with my husband, son, younger brother and some friends. Yesterday, we planned to visit Mirdif City Center, but today, we felt Kite Beach would be the perfect spot for a kid-friendly outing.

Kite Beach is one of Dubai’s most popular public beaches – perfect for sun-seekers, foodies and sports enthusiasts alike. There are various sports you can partake in, such as race, volleyball, kitesurfing, kayaking. Alternatively, you could head to the Kite Beach skatepark across the road. Additionally, you’ll have to rent some of the sports equipment and know the vendors’ timings. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to do most of the fun things because we arrived late.

Although we planned to leave our homes about the same time, we arrived almost an hour before they did. Our best option to kill boredom was to reminisce on some good memories. Later on, we took Gabby to the kids’ play area. Sadly, the first kids’ play area attendant told us they only accept kids above four years old, but the second play area accepts kids from age two. The entry fee in the second kids’ playground was 40 dirhams. I had to be with him as it was his first time on a trampoline, but I was amused to see my overhyped kid afraid of jumping on the trampoline 😂.

When our friends finally arrived, we went swimming; well, by we, I mean my brother and friends while Gabriel (my son) ensured that he made it his duty to pull those swimming out of the water or scream till they stop swimming. Indeed, today was so much fun, especially when I remembered the last time we visited the beach; he could barely walk, but he was running all over the place today.

We spent about three hours at the beach and every second was worth it!

If you plan to visit kite beach at night, these are some tips to make your visit worthwhile:
  • You may miss the fun that happens during the day, but there are other things to do at night like swimming, skateboarding and so on.
  • If you want to have a cosy time with your loved one or have some alone time, visiting Kite Beach at night is your best bet.
  • Kite Beach gets busy during the weekends.
  • Lifeguards aren’t available at night, their timings are 8am- 6pm.
  • During the summer, it’s better to visit the beach during sunset to avoid direct exposure to the sun.
  • Download the Careem app to get a taxi from the beach quickly.
  • There’s no entry fee at Kite Beach.
  • Forgot to bring your beach essentials? There are places you can get trendy beach wears, sunglasses, toys and so on.
